Get started on your lifting journey
Are you one of those people that want to get into lifting but don't know where to start? Getting started in the gym can seem to be hard and a lot of work, but I'm here to show you that it can be very easy. I will provide you with some steps and tips on how to get started.
Step one: where to workout
Figuring out where you're going to lift is the first step. A good choice would be a local gym in your town, or you can workout at home if you have a gym at home. Be sure to visit the gym you plan on joining so that you know you like it.
Step two: choosing a lifting schedule
Choosing a schedule all depends on you. Some people lift every day while others go a few times a week. I would recommend lifting at least 3-4 times a week. You will also have to choose a lifting split. There are many good splits out there but here are a few; push/pull/legs, upper/lower, and Arnold split. Everyone likes different splits so try them out and pick one you like.
Step three: diet
Eating is very important when it comes to progress in the gym. I like to say that diet is 75% of the work and the lifting is 25%. Start by finding out how many calories you need a day to maintain your bodyweight with calorie calculator. Then decide whether you want to lose or put on weight, and based on the number it gave you, eat 200-400 more or less calories than that number. You also want to make sure you're hitting the right number of macros needed for you.
Step four: how to workout
Working out correctly really comes down to 3 things; choosing the correct lifts, intensity, and form, choosing the rights lifts is simple. You can look up a video on what lifts are good and then choose about 3-4 lifts for each muscle group. Make sure you're using correct form to prevent injury. Either ask a gym member or just watch a video on how to use good form. For your first couple weeks you can ease into the gym and not go 100% but, after those 1-2 weeks you want to be lifting with high intensity to achieve muscle growth.
Things to keep in mind/tips
-Rest is very important so make sure you take some time off and get good sleep.
-Lifting with a friend or in a group can be very helpful.
-Always be respectful to others and equipment in the gym
-Make sure you're getting some type of cardio in a few times a week
-Lift hard

I think Step 4 was a really good thing to include in this. I know a lot of people work out in harmful ways, either they are not doing the workouts correctly (which could cause later pain), they are working out too much to the point they are exhausted, or they are not keeping a healthy diet when working out. Working out is a great way to stay healthy but it also needs to be done in a healthy way.
